The Venerable Archdeacon Susan Oliver

The Ven. Archdeacon Susan Oliver has lived on Toronto’s Lakeshore, in the university town of Sackville, NB, and in the tiny hamlet of Fort McPherson, NWT.

In each of these places she has found ways to minister the Good News and learned of the rich expanse of Christian ministry. Ven. Sue has brought all these experiences and learning to Edmonton: first as the Anglican Chaplain at the University of Alberta and since 2015 as the Rector of Christ Church. Ven. Sue has a particular vision for ministry to both children/youth and First Nations people.

In 2021 she was named Canon for Children and Family Ministries by the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton. Her outreach is characterized by food and fellowship, worship and witness, and presence in pain and joy. She has sought to nurture and grow the gift of faith in all she encounters so that all may respond to the call to serve. Together with her husband, Stephen Martin, and her two children, Amelia and Simon, Sue has made Christ Church her home.
