We Are Hiring: Youth Ministry Leader Fall 2024
Ministry to young people is close to the heart of Christ Church. As such, we seek a mature, enthusiastic young adult with an articulate faith to partner with the clergy of the parish to shepherd and lead our youth. The position will work towards fostering the spiritual growth of the individual young people and effective integration of the group into the larger parish family, fostering a culture of young people that love God and others both inside and outside our church walls. We are looking for someone who will nurture and grow a youth group for pre-teens and teens in the parish; your main responsibility will be on Sunday morning during the 10am service.
primary responsibilities include:
Plan and teach our regular Sunday morning youth group from Sept-June
Plan a monthly youth ministry event.
Connect with youth group members for conversation, spiritual mentorship and friendship.
Draft a youth ministry plan and calendar for the upcoming year.
Maintain effective lines of communication with all youth, youth parents, and rector.
Work alongside the parish leadership team in planning and ministry.
Meet with the rector monthly for a check in and update.
Log your hours and submit them to the administrative assistant at the end of each month.
Desired Qualifications:
A follower of Jesus with a vibrant and winsome faith.
An ability to relate to youth and mentor them.
An ability to teach the essentials of the Christian faith.
An openness to the Anglican tradition, and ability to work within its structures (this is teachable)
Good communication, administrative and technological skills as well as a fluency in social media.
The ability to create a safe and open environment for young people to explore and question their faith.
The details!
Ten months from September to June inclusive and for roughly 15 hours per month.
Must have an up to date Criminal Records Check.
Remuneration to be paid on an hourly basis at a rate of $25/hr.
The youth minister works under the direct supervision of the Rector and alongside other members of the parish staff team.
The position will be reviewed in three (3) months and annually at the end of June thereafter, with either party able to terminate the position on 30 days’ notice without cause.
A two-year commitment is preferable.
